Saturday morning, May 6th, 2000, the Tug Valley Road Runners Club invaded Matewan to run the streets of Historic Downtown Matewan.  The Matewan Area Community Action Team hosted the "1st Annual Historic Matewan 5K Run" for runners of all ages.  The "Fastest Kid in Matewan" competition was held on Mate Street as one of the three events during the Historic Matewan 5K Run.  We had sixteen young men and young ladies participating in this first ever Fastest Kid in Matewan race.  Congratulations to :
