Saturday began
bright and early with a Pancake Breakfast prepared by the Rotary Club of
Matewan. Midmorning included Marathon Runners finishing the
half-marathon while the remaining runners passed through Matewan on their
way to Williamson. Mid-afternoon featured the Civil War Reenactment
on Mate Street in Matewan, with dinner being hosted by the Kiwanis Club of
Red Jacket at the Herbert B. Akers Community Center. Saturday
Evening was a fun filled evening featuring Dancing in the Streets with
Eddie Nenni & the Jaguars sponsored by the Matewan Dance Studio.
The Civil War Camps were open for visitors throughout the weekend.
Other entertainment included Jessie Shepherd on stage in front of City
Hall, hayrides, magic show by Kevin Ball, street vendors, and a
spectacular fireworks show. |
